
Alexis ARAVANIS
Associate Professor: Alexis I. Aravanis received the Dipl.-Ing. (M.Sc. ECE) degree in electrical and computer engineering (magna cum laude) from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, in 2012, and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications engineering (excellent) from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, seconded at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Paris, France, in 2019. He is a (tenured) associate professor at the Laboratory of Signals and Systems (L2S) of Université Paris-Saclay, CNRS and CentraleSupélec in Paris, France. He has been the recipient of a Marie Curie (MSCA) Individual Fellowship (IF), of a Marie Curie (MSCA) Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Fellowship and of an Onassis Foundation Scholarship. He has co-authored a book and various publications in journals and conference proceedings. He has served as the Managing Editor of IEEE Communications Letters and as the Secretary of the RIS Emerging Technology Initiative of the IEEE Communications Society and as the Secretary of the RISE and REFLECTIONS Special Interest Groups of the IEEE Communications Society. He has served as principal investigator (PI) and co-PI of various EU, ESA, and French national projects both on research (e.g. ANR) and research and innovation (e.g. BPI) projects. He contributes as a principal researcher for the NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO) Information Systems Technology (IST) Scientific and Technical Committee. He contributes his expertise to various international forums and organizations, including the OECD (DAF/INV), and NATO. His research interests include 6G networks, Open RAN, resource optimization and machine learning applications for wireless and satellite communications.
