Title: Aggregative optimization problems: relaxation and numerical resolution

Abstract: Pulsing encodes a significant amount of information for systems analysis, including lithium-ion battery cells. With machine learning and overpotential equivalent circuits, the pulse voltage response may be used to analyse battery health and performance. This could lead to faster and more accurate characterisation, thus extending lifetimes and lowering costs. Results have been obtained for single cells and it is hoped that the methods can be extended to applications such as multi-cell modules, smart grids, or electric vehicles. 

Bio: Alan G. Li received the B.Eng. degree in electronic and electrical engineering (2019) from University College London, U.K. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, New York, U.S.A, where he is a member of the Motor Drives and Power Electronics laboratory. In 2022-23 he was a visiting researcher at the Battery Innovation Centre, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, with support from the Belgian American Educational Foundation. His research interests include modelling, diagnostics, and applications of energy storage in the grid and in transportation.
