PhD Thesis: Control and optimization of zinc-air flow battery integrated with zinc regenerative system

The purpose of this doctoral project is to design new control strategies for the power management of the energy storage systems, based on Zinc-air flow batteries (ZAFBs). The primary objective concerns the improvement of the operations by the development of a dynamic model of ZAFBs integrated with zinc regenerative system. The developed model will be assessed through experimental data. The effects of different operating conditions will be analyzed and monitoring and performance-assessment modules will be designed including fault detection and failure diagnosis capabilities.
